Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a highly skilled Director of Operations, Oncology to lead the development, implementation, and oversight of clinical programs and strategies that ensure cost-effective, high-quality delivery and membership satisfaction. This role requires a strong leader who can provide direction to departments in areas of performance related to service delivery and utilization of resources for members across the continuum, while complying with local, state, and federal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement clinical programs and strategies that meet or exceed cost, quality, clinical, and utilization standards, and performance measures.
  • Ensure that services meet members', physicians', and internal clients' needs in a changing, competitive healthcare market.
  • Lead workgroups in partnership with operations leadership and medical group partners to direct the continuous improvement of all clinical practices, services, and operations by designing and implementing systems, processes, and methods to evaluate and improve patient care.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new models/methods of delivering primary care to members, integrating work plans and producing seamless transitions of care for members.
  • Ensure patient care staff provide the highest quality of care and are in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act, National Committee of Quality Assurance, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and other healthcare providers in establishing, implementing, and maintaining patient care, quality, and service standards to meet members' and internal clients' expectations.
  • Act as a patient advocate, resolving patient care issues.
  • Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results across multiple departments and across the continuum of care, developing studies and assuring dissemination of best practices where appropriate.
  • Identify, develop, implement, and evaluate clinical guidelines and education for patient care, guiding clinical departments in the development of quality guidelines and operationalizing measures of compliance with those guidelines.
  • Direct the management of financial plans, resources, and budgets.
  • Determine the appropriate staff mix for multiple departments and manage human resources functions, developing processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all staff.
  • Direct the development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental policies and procedures that support the organization's goals and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with Physician Team Leaders and Department Chiefs in planning and developing the level of patient services/programs and the day-to-day operations of departments.
  • Integrate outpatient services/programs with strategic business plans.
  • Direct the management of human resources, labor relations, employee, and safety/risk management functions.
Requirements:
  • Minimum four (4) years of relevant healthcare management experience, specifically:
  • Experience managing clinical services working in a complex, multi-faceted healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with a large physician group practice managing through influence and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred license in the state of WA as a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or other healthcare area-related license.
  • Masters Degree (MPH, MPA, MBA) or related healthcare field preferred.
