Is This Role Right for You:

The Billing Specialist I is responsible for the prompt review and submission of medical claims to various insurance providers. This role requires a solid understanding of the financial processes involved in scheduling, billing, and collections.

Your Contributions:
  • Conduct thorough reviews of patient invoices for accuracy and completeness in a timely manner.
  • Proactively gather any missing information to ensure accurate and timely claim submissions.
  • Possess knowledge of insurance regulations and guidelines, including Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Follow established billing protocols, policies, and procedures diligently.
  • Identify the appropriate entity to be billed, whether it be an insurance company or the patient.
  • Complete all necessary billing checklists prior to submission.
  • Engage in follow-up activities to ensure timely collection of documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with clinic staff and insurance representatives.
  • Ensure that all required documentation is included or coordinate with the relevant clinic to update records.
Essential Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Assessment results indicating a suitable fit for the role, as determined by the Talent Bullseye assessment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems (e.g., NextGen, OnBase).
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and orthotic practices.

  • Familiarity with ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPC/CPT coding.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and automated billing systems.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as fax machines, calculators, and copiers.
  • Knowledge of applicable state, federal, and regional collection and reimbursement laws.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail while thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate creativity.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Basic math and accounting proficiency.
