Position Overview

Xos is looking for a Vehicle Software HIL System Engineering Intern to become a part of our Software Engineering division. In this position, you will play a key role in supporting various subsystem algorithms within electric vehicle software, including powertrain control, body control, and battery management system control. Your duties will involve executing software testing and validation on the Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) bench as well as in-vehicle testing, and collaborating across teams on design specifications and requirements.

  • Design, implement, and execute tests on the HIL bench according to system and software specifications
  • Create and manage automated test suites for various subsystems, concentrating on specific functionalities
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and outcomes
  • Identify and resolve issues encountered during testing
  • Conduct test data analysis and link features to the appropriate subsystems, working alongside development teams to pinpoint root causes and solutions
  • Enhance HIL bench capabilities to support new software modifications and testing needs
  • Engage in requirement review and test review meetings
  • Undertake additional tasks as required

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience in design verification testing is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems and their interrelations
  • Familiarity with vehicular communication protocols such as CAN and LIN
  • Experience with measurement, calibration, and diagnostic tools like ETAS INCA and Vector CANalyzer

The compensation for this role varies by location, with the specified range applicable to California.
