Los Angeles, California, United States Moonware Full time

Employment:
Full time

Team:
Hardware

Location:
Los Angeles, CA (in-person)

About Us
Moonware is an innovative startup focused on transforming air travel through automated and sustainable airfield solutions.

We are creating a cohesive ecosystem of AI-driven software and intelligent vehicles that effectively link ground personnel, aircraft, and support equipment to ensure timely flight services.

Our vision is to autonomously manage aircraft from landing to takeoff, facilitating seamless turnarounds for an enhanced airport experience.

Founded on the principle that multimodal air transport will dominate the movement of people and goods in the 21st century, we are pioneering advancements in air and space travel.

From electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOLs) to supersonic jets, we are leading the charge into a new era of aviation that will further integrate global connectivity.

As air travel evolves, airports and their connecting hubs must adapt to meet the increasing demands of modern transportation.

Despite significant progress in aircraft technology, the infrastructure and operational processes necessary for these new aerial systems remain largely antiquated.

Our team comprises experts from Tesla, Waymo, NASA, Google, Uber, and Corvette, bringing extensive experience in aerospace, automotive, and robotics to redefine the airfields of the future.

Software Team
Our software team is developing HALO, the operating system for aviation ground handling operations.

HALO is an AI-enhanced Ground Traffic Control platform aimed at optimizing aircraft turnaround management, ensuring that ramp crews and ground support equipment (GSE) work in harmony to service flights punctually.

The core optimizer of HALO integrates flight data, GSE locations, and crew assignments to formulate the most efficient service missions. Position trackers installed on GSE provide real-time location data that informs app-specific functionalities.

Crew and GSE are scheduled and dispatched via a mobile application to respond to real-time flight schedule adjustments, utilizing a smart routing feature that directs ground crew drivers to their destinations on the airfield, thereby conserving time.

Real-time task distribution and dynamic vehicle routing are examples of cloud-based functionalities that replace traditional radio and paper methods.

This transition to digital infrastructure allows us to manage extensive datasets necessary for task and equipment allocation while addressing their inherent complexities.

By gathering substantial data on ground vehicle movements, interactions among ground handling personnel, and service punctuality, we can enhance operational efficiency.

Moreover, by collecting data from various airport hubs, we can develop robust machine learning models that account for airfield traffic patterns and specific airport constraints.

This data will help identify significant bottlenecks in ground operations and explore how these processes can be improved with 'last-mile' ramp services utilizing autonomous GSE.
