Medical Office Receptionist Job Description

Premise Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Office Receptionist to join our team in Plano, TX. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize and maintain accurate patient records, including filing and retrieving charts.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries, directing callers to appropriate personnel or initiating triage slips as needed.
  • Schedule appointments and enter appointment dates and times into our computerized scheduler.
  • Conduct reminder calls to patients and greet visitors, patients, and salespeople.
  • Register patients, verifying their records are up-to-date and accurate, and making necessary changes in our computer system and on patient charts.
  • Coordinate referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices or specialists.
  • Prepare billings for processing by finance and collect payments from patients, reconciling daily cash reports.
  • Identify and solve problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information skillfully, and developing alternate solutions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, responding quickly and appropriately to customer needs, and managing difficult or emotional situations.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school with a concentration in front office support for medical settings preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a front desk/customer service-related field required.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
  • Knowledge of Medical Practice software a plus.
  • Knowledge of medical record filing and coding systems and medical terminology preferred.
