The DC Volunteer Lawyers Project (DCVLP) was established in 2008 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing free legal services to survivors of domestic violence and vulnerable children living with abuse, neglect, and other dangerous circumstances. Our mission is to advocate for the rights of these individuals and provide them with access to comprehensive pro bono legal services, social services referrals, crisis support, and safety planning.

About the Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Bilingual Staff Attorney and contribute to our mission of providing high-quality legal services to marginalized communities. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our client advocates, develop training programs, and collaborate with community organizations to improve access to justice for Spanish-speaking and limited English proficiency survivors of domestic violence.

Your Qualifications

  • A J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active DC Bar membership or eligibility to waive into the D.C. Bar and commitment to submitting an application if hired.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of legal experience with a strong preference for experience working with domestic violence victims and/or trauma survivors while providing these services in Spanish.
  • Professional Working Proficiency in Spanish and above is required.
