Emory University Hospital Midtown is in search of a Registered Nurse who is passionate about cardiac care to become a vital part of our 38-bed Cardiology Telemetry unit. This unit primarily operates as a Cardiac Step-Down floor, focusing on procedures such as cardioversions, pre/post pacemaker ICD implant/explant, and managing heart failure patients. All new team members will engage in EKG, dysrhythmia, heart failure, and device therapy training as part of their onboarding process.

Job Responsibilities

Part-Time/36 hours/Dayshift

The ideal candidate will be a skilled clinician with extensive experience in patient care, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the needs of a specific patient demographic. This role involves:

  • Utilizing acquired knowledge, theoretical frameworks, and practical experience to adapt to evolving clinical situations.
  • Applying the Synergy Model for Care to personalize patient and family care.
  • Acting as a resource for colleagues and advocating strongly for patients and their families.
  • Communicating effectively and respectfully with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
  • Delivering safe, reliable, and effective nursing care independently, employing the nursing process.
  • Demonstrating advanced assessment skills and recognizing the influence of nursing interventions on patient outcomes.
  • Documenting nursing processes accurately and in the required formats.
  • Planning and implementing patient care autonomously, incorporating patient and family input.
  • Evaluating patient responses to care and adjusting plans as necessary.
  • Identifying learning needs of patients and families and recommending appropriate resources.
  • Incorporating the AACN Synergy Model into daily practice.
  • Managing time efficiently and revising policies based on evidence-based research.
  • Delegating tasks appropriately while recognizing the roles of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Functioning in a developing leadership capacity and serving as Charge Nurse when assigned.
  • Oriented staff or students in the absence of a designated preceptor.
  • Utilizing resources responsibly with an emphasis on cost containment.
  • Exhibiting effective listening and conflict resolution skills.
  • Individualizing care based on patient and family knowledge.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and accepting accountability for professional growth.
  • Participating in unit activities to address discipline-specific issues.
  • Collecting and analyzing data as required by the healthcare team.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be graduates of an accredited nursing program with at least 12 months of recent nursing experience within the last five years or have recently completed a re-entry nursing program. A valid, active, unencumbered Nursing license or a temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board is required. BLS certification is mandatory, and ACLS certification may be necessary in designated departments.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

This position involves physical demands that may vary based on assigned work area and tasks, including:

  • Lifting up to 75 lbs and carrying objects up to 35 lbs.
  • Frequent standing and walking, with occasional sitting.
  • Close visual work, including computer use and reading.

Environmental factors may include exposure to blood-borne pathogens, biohazardous waste, communicable diseases, and other conditions that may vary by work area.
