Position Overview:

The Healthcare Medication Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of residents by administering medications accurately and safely. This position operates under the guidance of the Executive Director and Wellness Directors, focusing on delivering compassionate care to older adults.


Qualifications and Required Experience:

  • Strong communication skills and a genuine compassion for the elderly.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
  • Completion of the 6-hour Medication Technician training course as per state regulations and maintenance of active certification.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, totaling 48 hours biweekly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers medications in accordance with physician orders documented on the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
  • Ensures accurate documentation of administered medications on the MAR, adhering to company policies.
  • Conducts thorough change of shift reports with incoming and outgoing personnel.
  • Maintains the security of the medication cart and narcotic keys throughout the shift, performing narcotic counts as required.
  • Provides comprehensive care and services to assigned residents, collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Assists residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, and mobility.
  • Upholds a professional demeanor while interacting with residents and their families.
  • Reports any suspected instances of abuse to licensed staff immediately.
  • Utilizes safe transfer techniques when assisting residents with mobility challenges.
  • Participates in resident-centered activities and supports the enhancement of sensory devices.
  • Completes housekeeping tasks, including laundry and maintaining cleanliness in resident areas.
  • Facilitates resident transportation and assists with personal correspondence as needed.
  • Observes and reports changes in residents' physical and emotional conditions to the appropriate staff.
  • Conducts regular room checks and monitors for safety hazards.
  • Assists with dining-related tasks, ensuring a pleasant experience for residents.
  • Responds promptly to emergencies, reporting incidents to the charge nurse.
  • Engages in staff meetings and mandatory training sessions.
  • Documents services provided accurately on company forms.
  • Communicates tactfully in sensitive situations and follows up on reported concerns.
  • Acts as a representative of the company to guests and visitors.
  • Participates in various projects and committees as assigned.
