Key Responsibilities of the Billing Specialist
- Manage all facets of billing and follow-up for various service lines.
- Secure prior authorizations for services and challenge any necessary denial of authorizations.
- Collaborate with different departments to ensure timely submission of claims, authorizations, and payments, and follow up as needed.
- Utilize billing software to process billing for patients and clients while monitoring the status of accounts.
- Ensure adherence to established processes for accurate and timely billing.
- Review Accounts Receivable reports, reprocess claims with necessary corrections, and ensure accurate cash postings while noting denials for follow-up.
- Provide insights for process enhancements.
- Maintain direct communication with management to report on billing and collections progress, overdue balances, and discuss action plans.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications for the Billing Specialist
- Educational qualifications in medical coding or billing (certificate or degree preferred).
- Experience in Managed Care and Home Health Care/Hospice is advantageous.
- A minimum of two years of experience in medical billing is preferred.
