Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the RN Supervisor or Site Manager, the Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing patient care by actively engaging in the interdisciplinary care team and assisting healthcare providers in delivering essential primary care services. This role is a full-time position with eligibility for benefits, operating Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, with occasional evenings until 7 or 8 pm, and rare Saturday shifts (two Saturdays annually) from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Schedules may be subject to adjustments.

Compensation:

The starting pay for this position is $17 per hour, with potential for higher compensation based on relevant experience.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant is mandatory. Acceptable certifications include:
    • CMA certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants
    • RMA certification through American Medical Technologists
    • CCMA certification through National Healthcareer Association
    • NCMA certification through National Center for Competency Testing
    • NRCMA certification through National Association for Health Professionals
  • Proficient typing skills and familiarity with computer software systems.
  • Basic Life Support/CPR training, certification, or the ability to obtain certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients, complete and verify necessary forms, and guide patients to examination rooms.
  • Measure vital signs and accurately document information in the electronic medical records system.
  • Assist with examinations and procedures, ensuring proper cleanup afterwards.
  • Execute provider orders (immunizations, testing, obtaining lab specimens, documenting results, etc.).
  • Handle interactions with patients undergoing treatment in sensitive situations with tact.
  • Follow instructions and collaborate effectively with both professional and support staff.
  • Manage time efficiently to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Oversee clinic flow for assigned providers.
  • Prepare patient charts for visits, organize patient information, and assist with medical records tasks.
  • Retrieve and relay results to healthcare providers, laboratories, and medical records as instructed, ensuring abnormal results are communicated to the provider.
  • Request test results and referral information from other offices, updating patient charts accordingly.
  • Contact patients due for services and schedule appointments as needed.
  • Sterilize and maintain equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • May provide assistance at other Cherry Health locations as required.
