Job Overview

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant II + Clerical (Clinical Support Tech II) for our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). This unit is integral to the UNC Center for Health and Vascular Care, focusing on a collaborative approach to patient treatment for those experiencing cardiac and vascular conditions. In this role, you will encounter a variety of educational experiences within a fast-paced and supportive environment that values exceptional healthcare and teamwork.

This role requires a commitment of 36 hours per week, with rotating 12-hour shifts (7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am), including weekends and holidays. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including accrued PTO based on hours worked. A thorough week-long orientation session is mandatory every two weeks (Monday to Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm).

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare professionals during patient assessments and procedures, manage equipment, and oversee supply inventory.
- Monitor patient care documentation for updates, promptly notifying registered nurses or physicians of any significant changes.
- Execute clerical tasks such as organizing workloads, welcoming visitors, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining patient records.
- Engage in direct patient care activities as outlined in care plans, including measuring vital signs, collecting specimens, and providing wound care.
- Support patient education initiatives by reinforcing information provided by healthcare professionals and distributing educational resources as necessary.

Qualifications:
● High School diploma or GED
Licensure/Certification:
● Certified as Nursing Assistant II with the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
● Certified as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
● Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
● Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Experience:
● At least one (1) year of clerical or customer service experience and six (6) months of relevant nursing assistant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
● Proficient in verbal and written English. Ability to develop computer skills as needed.
