Aquatics Director Job Description

Lamwork is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatics Director to lead our youth program in the aquatics department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the aquatics program, including staff training, performance evaluations, and maintaining comprehensive instructor guides.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Management: Develop and implement effective programs for youth, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all participants.
  • Staff Supervision: Hire, train, and supervise aquatic staff, including lifeguards, swim instructors, water exercise instructors, and aquatic coordinators.
  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure that branch aquatic facilities and off-site facilities meet requirements, guidelines, and association policies/procedures related to the expectations as well as state and local health codes.
  • Risk Management: Directly responsible for risk management programs as it relates to the aquatic facilities.
  • Financial Planning: Develop an annual departmental financial plan (budget) in accordance with financial planning processes and actively manage to achieve or exceed departmental financial performance.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate orally and in written documents with staff, volunteers, and community leaders and collaborators.
  • Event Planning: Collaborate with other directors to establish and manage the calendar for all youth and family events.
  • Representative: Attend all major club functions as the representative of the department.
Requirements:
  • Effective Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and community leaders.
  • Knowledge of Regulations and Policies: Familiarity with association policies/procedures, state and local health codes, and other relevant regulations.
  • Safety Awareness: Understanding of safety protocols and procedures for aquatic facilities.
  • Recruitment and Hiring: Ability to recruit, hire, and train aquatic staff.
  • Facility Maintenance: Knowledge of facility maintenance procedures and protocols.
  • Safety Management: Ability to manage risk and ensure a safe environment for participants.
  • Youth Program Development: Experience in developing and implementing effective youth programs.
  • Youth Engagement: Ability to engage and motivate youth participants.
  • Coaching and Instruction: Experience in coaching and instructing youth in aquatic activities.
  • Goal Setting and Achievement: Ability to set and achieve goals for the department.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain relationships with staff, volunteers, and community leaders.
  • Brand Promotion: Ability to promote the brand and represent the department at major club functions.
  • Training and Development: Ability to train and develop staff in aquatic activities.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Supervisory Skills: Ability to supervise and lead staff.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead and manage the aquatics department.
  • Event Planning: Ability to plan and execute events for youth and family.
