Job Summary:

Safebuilt is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building and Housing Inspector to join our team of professionals. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local building codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field inspections during various stages of construction to ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  • Read and examine plans and specifications to verify compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Report violations and maintain accurate records of inspections and compliance issues.
  • Perform other related duties as required to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology.
  • Ability to interpret codes in the field and provide code-compliant solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.

Education and Experience:

  • Candidates must possess one of the following combinations:
  • ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification and one of the following ICC Certifications: B1 - Residential Building Inspector Certification, M1 - Residential Mechanical Inspector Certification, E1 - Residential Electrical Inspector Certification, or P1 - Residential Plumbing Inspector Certification.
  • The ability to obtain ICC's Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification within 12 months of entry into the position and one of the following ICC Certifications: B1 - Residential Building Inspector Certification, M1 - Residential Mechanical Inspector Certification, E1 - Residential Electrical Inspector Certification, or P1 - Residential Plumbing Inspector Certification.
  • The ability to obtain ICC's Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification within 12 months of entry into the position and one of the following ICC Certifications: B2 - Commercial Building Inspector Certification, M2 - Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification, E2 - Commercial Electrical Inspector Certification, or P2 - Commercial Plumbing Inspector Certification.
