Aquatic Program Supervisor

The City of Fife is actively seeking candidates for the Aquatic Program Supervisor position. This role is pivotal in overseeing a diverse range of aquatic activities, ensuring a secure, enjoyable, and interactive environment for participants of all ages at the Fife Aquatic Center.
All roles are part-time and require adaptability along with the capacity to engage with management as necessary.
Compensation Structure:
Aquatic Program Supervisor: $26.64 per hour
Aquatic Leader 2: $28.60 per hour
These positions qualify for retirement benefits through the Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Detailed benefit information is available on the city’s official website.
Role Responsibilities
- Facilitates collaborative projects and initiatives with staff and community stakeholders.
- Oversees activities within the aquatic facility.
- Assists in managing volunteers and program participants.
- Participates in all staff meetings.
- Conducts swim instruction, lifeguarding, and other aquatic program-related tasks.
- Communicates participant feedback to the program supervisor.
- Prepares various documents including program evaluations, swimmer progress reports, memos, and daily logs.
- Handles cashier and front desk responsibilities.
- Addresses public inquiries regarding programs and facilities.
- Supervises the upkeep of equipment, supplies, and facilities.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant City, County, and State regulations and ordinances.
- Performs minor maintenance and custodial tasks.
- Manages facility opening and closing duties.
- Utilizes the REC1 software system for processing registrations and transactions.
- Undertakes additional duties as assigned.
- Acts as a backup for the Aquatic Leader 2 when necessary.
- Handles cashier duties and cash reconciliation as required.
- Conducts pool chemical testing and maintenance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma.
- At least one year of relevant experience.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old at the time of hire.
REQUIRED LICENSES/TRAINING:
- No certifications are required prior to the start date for swim instructors.
- Lifeguards must complete and maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, Blood-Borne Pathogens, AED, and Lifeguard Training.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS - AQUATICS:
- Demonstrated passion for working with young children, particularly those under 12 years old.
- Ability to effectively respond to the Aquatic Center's Emergency Action Plan.
- Familiarity with the skill levels of swimmers and the ability to teach appropriate swimming techniques safely.
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and techniques.
- Commitment to attending all required training and in-service sessions.
- Maintenance of all necessary certifications including blood-borne pathogens, AED, First Aid, CPR, and lifeguard training.
- Ability to meet swimming proficiency standards necessary for teaching swim lessons across the first six levels of the Fife Aquatic Center's swim program.
