Position Overview

HDR Engineering is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager to enhance our expanding team in the Gulf Coast TX region. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, direction, and technical monitoring of large and mid-sized water and wastewater treatment initiatives characterized by significant technical complexity. This role also includes client management responsibilities and contributing to the growth of our practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, direction, and oversight of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate and manage the efforts of single or multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation to completion.
  • Oversee all facets of large multidisciplinary projects or medium-sized projects with a high degree of technical complexity, involving substantial project personnel.
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Establish and nurture client relationships, participating in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
  • Facilitate work sessions for deliverable development in collaboration with other staff and stakeholders.
  • Manage staffing and workload throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  • Monitor financial aspects of projects, adjusting team efforts to meet budgetary and scheduling constraints.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Operational, and Business leadership for regular project reviews.
  • Implement quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Supervise large project teams and mentor less-experienced Project Managers.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • PMP certification.
  • A minimum of 12 years of design experience with large, complex water and wastewater projects.
  • Strong client and project management capabilities.
  • Experience in designing water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Proven leadership and communication skills, with a desire to advance our water/wastewater treatment practice.
  • Robust technical leadership, mentoring, and project management experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 10 years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years in project management roles.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project (Access experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated leadership, business development, and strategic planning skills.
