About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Surescripts. As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide a variety of general corporate, regulatory, and commercial legal services to the organization and its in-house clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a senior advisor on complex legal issues that may affect multiple segments and products.
  • Review and advise on issues involving contracts, state and federal law and regulations, as well as the organization's compliance program.
  • May provide guidance to junior level staff.
  • May engage in the development and management of risk strategies.
  • May manage legal matters assigned to outside counsel and preside at meetings regarding legal issues.

Requirements
  • Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA-accredited law school and good standing member of at least one state bar.
  • 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm or in-house to include drafting business contracts and negotiating them to successful conclusion.
  • Additional years of relevant experience in a non-attorney role in the healthcare or technology industry may be considered in satisfying this requirement.
  • 5+ years of experience engaging with those responsible for business development on both sides of the contract/transaction.
  • 5+ years of experience drafting and negotiating contracts related to data rights/license agreements and other intellectual property.
  • Demonstrates experience in corporate matters of diverse scope, requiring in-depth evaluation and interpretation.
  • Works with a high degree of autonomy, demonstrating significant subject matter experience and excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience providing legal services to companies in the healthcare industry.
  • Specialist knowledge of privacy and data security matters in the healthcare sector.

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range.

The base pay range for this position is $170,100 - $207,900 per year.

Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.

Benefits include, but are not limited to, comprehensive healthcare (including infertility coverage), generous paid time off including paid childbirth and parental leave and mental health days, pet insurance, and 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting.
