Job Summary

Mary's Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented WIC Nutritionist Assistant to join our team. As a Competent Paraprofessional Authority, you will provide essential services to low-risk WIC clients, including health screening, basic nutrition education, and referrals for healthcare and other services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct health screenings and assessments using the DC WIC State agency provided assessment tool
  • Provide basic nutrition education to non-high-risk participants, either individually or in a group setting
  • Screen the health and nutritional status of participants, identify, and assess for health risks
  • Refer high-risk participants, breastfeeding participants, and participants with questions or concerns beyond the CPPA scope of work to a CPA in accordance with WIC State Agency policy
  • Document all contacts made with WIC participants in the DC WIC HANDS system
  • Issue food benefits in accordance with WIC State Agency policy
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Health Education, Nursing, LPN, or Dietetic Technicians preferred
  • Excellent people/customer service skills, good oral/written skills, strong computer skills, and ability to accurately record and document data
  • Experience working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of patient confidentiality issues and HIPPA compliance/regulations
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required
