Job Summary

The Director of the WIC Program provides strategic leadership to the WIC team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based services to vulnerable populations. This role requires a strong understanding of community health, program development, and staff supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Develop and implement program goals, objectives, and strategies to improve health outcomes and access to services for WIC participants.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise and mentor WIC staff, providing guidance on program operations, client engagement, and community outreach.
  • Community Engagement: Foster partnerships with community-based organizations, healthcare providers, and government agencies to promote WIC services and address health disparities.
  • Grant Management: Ensure compliance with grant requirements, monitoring progress, and reporting outcomes to funders.
  • Quality Improvement: Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance program efficiency, effectiveness, and client satisfaction.
  • Training and Professional Development: Provide training and professional development opportunities for WIC staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in program operations, client engagement, and community outreach.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in clinical nutrition, nutrition science, dietetics, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in program development, staff supervision, and community health, with a focus on maternal and child health.
  • Licensure: Current license as a dietitian or nutritionist in the District of Columbia.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in program management software.
