HVAC Project Engineer

Brian Cox Mechanical is in search of a dedicated and detail-oriented HVAC Project Engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and can support our project managers in the daily oversight of their assignments. This position offers the potential for advancement to Project Manager in the future.

Compensation Range: $65,000 - $90,000 annually

Position Overview

Project Engineer (PE)

The primary responsibility of the PE is to assist in identifying and mitigating project risks. Our Project Engineers play a crucial role in ensuring project success, engaging in the daily operations and requiring strong organizational skills along with effective communication with team members and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and manage equipment and material submittals (assess product data against project Plans & Specifications, manage submission, tracking, printing, and distribution)
  • Oversee procurement processes (including Purchase Orders, tracking, delivery coordination, and warranty issues)
  • Develop an understanding of project budgets and costs
  • Administer subcontract agreements (manage subcontract documents and scope of work for subcontractors; coordinate deliverables and work)
  • Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFI) including submission, follow-up, and maintenance of RFI logs
  • Maintain Document Control and Job File organization (update and manage all project documentation, including Drawings, Schedules, Specifications, and Logs)
  • Compile Project Closeout Packages (collect Manuals, Warranty Letters, As-Builts, Start-Up, and Testing Documents; prepare for submission)
  • Draft and distribute accurate correspondence and reports
  • Consolidate meeting notes from various sources into a single document
  • Maintain archived project information
  • Follow up on outstanding items from external sources
  • Assist in change order pricing by gathering necessary information for Project Manager approval
  • Prepare tool lists for Project Managers and Foreman meetings as a backup
  • The ideal candidate must possess strong skills in preparing and managing daily construction documentation, logs, tracking, and follow-up.
  • The successful candidate is driven, self-motivated, excels in a dynamic environment, is reliable, and demonstrates good attendance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in construction (preferably in HVAC)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Adobe X (or higher); knowledge of Bluebeam Revu 2019 is a plus
  • Exceptional oral, written, and visual communication skills are essential.
