Job Summary

The Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure (DTCI) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join our traffic engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the development of innovative transportation solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multimodal safety and operational studies throughout the County, including corridor, intersection improvement, and bicycle/pedestrian connectivity studies.
  • Work with state and local transportation agencies to develop and implement transportation plans and policies.
  • Assess and understand technical and analytical reports, including engineering drawings and site plans, to inform data-driven solutions.
  • Effectively communicate complex technical ideas verbally and in writing to stakeholders.
  • Make sound engineering recommendations and provide technical engineering alternatives and solutions to difficult and complex roadway safety and operational problems.
Requirements
  • Strong project management skills and leadership qualities.
  • Technical knowledge in multimodal transportation with a proven track record of successfully working with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of traffic analysis and traffic simulation software.
  • Dependability and customer-service focus.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to reason and solve problems in a collaborative manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
What We Offer
  • Eligibility for partial telework in accordance with County and Department Policies.
  • Flexible scheduling to address required meeting attendance outside of normal business hours.
  • Eligibility for a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.
  • Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with engineering coursework or degree related to assigned area; three (3) years of professional engineering and construction management work experience of a complex nature with direct design as well as administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
