Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Senior Traffic Technician, you will assist in the daily management and upkeep of traffic signals across the Town. Your role will involve investigating and addressing traffic signal issues, responding to citizen inquiries regarding traffic concerns, and collecting relevant data. This position requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions, direct interaction with community members, and maintaining safety around vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Required Qualifications
Traffic Technician I
$53,000 - $105,894 DOQ
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience in skilled trades or maintenance work, or a comparable mix of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control certification within one year of employment.
  • Level I IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Certification within one year of employment.
  • Must be available for on-call emergency response as required outside of standard working hours.
Traffic Technician II
$60,373 - $122,908 DOQ
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in traffic signal maintenance and repairs or a similar combination of education and experience.
  • At least four years of valid Level 2 IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Certification.
  • IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control certification.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be available for on-call emergency response as required outside of standard working hours.
Preferred Qualifications
Traffic Technician I
  • Courses in Electrical Technologies or related fields.
  • Experience in traffic control operations.
  • Knowledge of traffic signal utility installations and roadway construction.
  • Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Traffic Technician II
  • Courses in Electrical Technologies or related fields.
  • Certifications related to signal operations.
  • Experience in traffic signal design.
  • Knowledge of traffic signals, utility installations, and roadway construction.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in signal or utility construction.
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
