What You'll Be Doing
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Traffic Technician in the Public Works and Capital Projects Department, you will assist in the daily management and upkeep of traffic signals across the Town. Your responsibilities will include investigating and reporting traffic signal issues, addressing citizen inquiries related to traffic, and collecting relevant data. This role requires outdoor work in various weather conditions, interaction with community members, and ensuring safety while managing vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Required Qualifications

Traffic Technician I:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in skilled trades or maintenance work, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control certification within one (1) year of employment.
  • Level I IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Certification within one (1) year of employment.
  • Must be available for on-call emergency response as needed outside of regular working hours.
Traffic Technician II:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in traffic signal maintenance and repairs or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • At least four (4) years holding a valid Level 2 IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Certification.
  • IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control certification.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be available for on-call emergency response as needed outside of regular working hours.
Preferred Qualifications

Traffic Technician I:
  • Technical coursework in Electrical Technologies or related fields.
  • Experience in traffic control operations.
  • Knowledge of traffic signal utility installations and roadway construction.
  • Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
Traffic Technician II:
  • Technical coursework in Electrical Technologies or related fields.
  • Certifications related to signal operations (CMU, Video Detection, Pre-Emption, and/or Fiber).
  • Experience in traffic signal design.
  • Knowledge of traffic signals, utility installations, and roadway construction.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience in signal or utility construction.
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
