As a Community Reinvestment Act Mortgage Officer, your role will involve driving loan production through proactive sales initiatives targeting low to moderate income neighborhoods and borrowers. Our offerings include a variety of standard secondary market products along with unique portfolio options, particularly designed for first-time homebuyers, allowing for up to 100% financing. A solid background in lending is crucial for success in this role, while familiarity with fundamental underwriting principles is advantageous. Strong communication abilities are essential to effectively assist our clients and collaborate with all stakeholders involved in the lending process.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily tasks will encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Execute vital functions within the designated market, focusing on low to moderate income areas and borrowers.
  • Strive to achieve a favorable CRA rating in your assigned market.
  • Actively engage with individuals, real estate agents, builders, non-profit organizations, and community advocates to broaden your network and enhance sales opportunities.
  • Participate in external business development activities, including open houses, homebuyer education seminars, and community outreach events.
  • Conduct marketing initiatives, such as presentations and membership in local organizations, to foster sales growth.
  • Assist clients in completing comprehensive loan applications to ensure compliance while negotiating favorable terms.
  • Gather, organize, and evaluate information to determine loan product eligibility.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, addressing inquiries and providing information from initial contact through to closing.
  • Collaborate closely with mortgage operations teams to facilitate seamless loan transactions.
  • Build a strong partnership with your processor to ensure an efficient loan processing experience.
  • Support the Director of Community Engagement and Outreach in expanding partnerships as needed.
  • Keep the Regional Lending Sales Manager informed of all CRA initiatives and strategies.
  • Work independently in outside sales, often requiring evening and weekend availability to meet client needs.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED; a college degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in outside sales within FHA, VA, and conventional lending.
  • Professional representation of Stock Yards Bank & Trust in all interactions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to articulate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • A collaborative team player who is adaptable to changing environments and capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in computer usage with a typing speed of at least 35 WPM.
  • Familiarity with basic underwriting guidelines is preferred.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to perform under pressure.
