Community Lending Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mortgage Loan Officer to join our Community Development team at Stock Yards Bank and Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for generating loan volume through sales efforts in low to moderate income areas and borrowers in Central Kentucky.
Key Responsibilities- Market Development: Perform essential duties and responsibilities within designated markets, with an emphasis on low to moderate income areas and borrowers.
- CRA Compliance: Work to achieve satisfactory CRA rating in designated markets.
- Business Development: Aggressively pursue contact with individuals, realtors, builders, non-profit organizations, and advocates, to expand network contacts and relationships to generate sales.
- Marketing and Promotion: Participate in business development activities outside of the office, such as realtor open houses, homebuyer seminars, financial literacy opportunities, church groups, trade shows, as well as community development activities.
- Customer Service: Consult with customers to compile a fully completed loan application, meet compliance guidelines, and negotiate terms and conditions.
- Loan Processing: Collect, compile, and analyze information for acceptability for approval for loan product.
- Communication: Communicate with clients and potential clients, answering questions and providing information, acting as the primary point of contact from sale to closing.
- Collaboration: Work diligently with all of mortgage operations (Setup, Mortgage Compliance, Underwriters, Processors, and Closers) to facilitate a loan transaction.
- Partnerships: Create a collaborative partnership with your processor to ensure an efficient and expedient loan process.
- Strategic Planning: Expand partnerships as requested by the Director of Community Engagement and Outreach.
- Reporting: Keep Regional Lending Sales Manager abreast of all CRA projects and strategies, educational classes, correspondence courses, on the job training, and investor websites.
- Education: High school/GED education, college degree preferred.
- Experience: 3-5 years of outside sales experience with FHA, VA, and conventional lending.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication skills, consisting of the ability to write and speak effectively to others. Employees must be a productive team player, with the ability to learn, apply training, and comprehend policies and procedures.
- Technical Skills: PC Literacy with 35 WPM typing skills.
- Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of basic underwriting guidelines, professional appearance and demeanor, excellent sales and negotiating skills, and assertiveness.
