Overview

The Sales Operations Manager will oversee account management to enhance guest satisfaction while pursuing both past and new business opportunities to ensure revenue targets are met or surpassed. This role involves generating new group sales accounts and nurturing relationships with existing clients to achieve and exceed revenue objectives in rooms, food, beverage, and room rental. The position will necessitate occasional travel to properties, with the sales manager spending approximately 70% of their time on-site and 30% working remotely from a home office.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and engage new and existing accounts to surpass revenue targets through proactive outreach, sales calls, site visits, and written correspondence.
  • Meet or exceed sales goals related to transactions and lead conversion rates.
  • Maximize revenue by effectively promoting all aspects of the hotel to current, past, and prospective clients.
  • Ensure all relevant details of solicitation and closing are meticulously documented and coordinate with various departments to service accounts effectively.
  • Respond promptly to incoming leads to secure new business within established timelines.
  • Accurately detail banquet and catering events in proposals, contracts, and sales systems, ensuring all stakeholders are informed of any updates.
  • Demonstrate experience in selling to diverse market segments, including catering and group sales.
  • Provide overall direction and ongoing evaluation of operations, ensuring detailed execution of all banquet event orders generated.
  • Monitor group room blocks and pickup, generating detailed resumes for operational departments as necessary.
  • Deliver persuasive verbal sales presentations to potential clients.
  • Prepare and conduct meetings with clients to discuss potential business opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear guidance to all hotel departments, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for work.
  • Prepare correspondence for customers, maintain internal booking reports, and manage files efficiently.
  • Participate in daily business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, training sessions, and other sales-related gatherings as required.
  • Attend trade shows, community events, and industry conferences.
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitive landscape, and key customers in the hotel sector.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of sales experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the hospitality industry, particularly in event detailing, is essential.
  • Experience with hotels and resorts of varying sizes and tiers is required.
  • Flexibility regarding work location and travel is necessary.
  • Ability to evaluate and capitalize on business opportunities effectively.
  • Proficient knowledge of various hotel brands and sales systems (e.g., Delphi FDC, CiTy).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential; proficiency in English is required.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi, are necessary.
  • Understanding of hotel features, benefits, and competitive positioning within the market.
  • Ability to implement appropriate action plans effectively.
  • Willingness to assist colleagues and contribute as a team player.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing strategies, safety protocols, personnel relations, business planning, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance, hospitality law, and long-term planning.
  • Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff to achieve organizational goals.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize, plan, and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing.
  • Capability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with supervisors, coworkers, guests, and vendors.
