Position Overview

This role encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the successful execution of spacecraft operations. The selected candidate will provide oversight for contracts and task orders, focusing on financial management and operational support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Oversight: Manage and guide contractors in the interpretation and execution of the Statement of Work (SOW), ensuring alignment with mission objectives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess engineering risks associated with missions, approve mitigation strategies, and lead their implementation.
  • IT Security Management: Oversee the security and configuration control of both flight and ground software/hardware, including the implementation of necessary security measures.
  • Data Processing Oversight: Ensure that initial science data processing and distribution meet established requirements for the scientific community.
  • Anomaly Investigation: Lead investigations into spacecraft and ground system anomalies, utilizing Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis.
  • Engineering Project Development: Initiate and recommend projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior Mission Directors and participate in engineering reviews to assess operational readiness.
  • Diversity and Inclusion Advocacy: Promote a culture of engagement, diversity, and innovation within the team.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Physical Science, Mathematics, or Computer Science, along with specialized experience in aerospace operations.

Experience in leading engineering teams, managing contracts, and developing operational plans is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to effectively communicate technical information and collaborate with diverse teams.
