Key Responsibilities: This role involves supporting the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the Ground System and Mission Operations (GSMO-3) contract as a Spacecraft Operations Supervisor for the On-Orbit Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (OSAM-1) Mission. The position requires providing leadership in flight operations, preparing for launch and early orbit activities, and ensuring the achievement of mission objectives. The ideal candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy, collaborating directly with Mission Operations Managers, Ground System Managers, Mission Directors, and external teams such as Project Development Leads (PDLs), Mission Systems Engineers (MSE), Ground System Engineers, Spacecraft Vendors, and Payload Teams.

Leadership Role: The Operations Supervisor will oversee daily operations, with all mission activities conducted at their discretion. Routine operations will be managed by the Flight Operations Team as assigned by the Supervisor. Responsibilities include supporting the development of the core Flight Operations Team's shift staffing profile, overseeing shift handover processes, and managing reporting. Additionally, the Supervisor will support Ground Element testing, Mission End-to-End testing, and Mission Readiness testing, which encompasses simulations and rehearsals.

Required Experience: Candidates should possess prior experience and domain knowledge in the following areas:

  • Experience as a Spacecraft Operations Supervisor, Flight Director, Launch Rehearsal Manager, or Mission Operations Manager on NASA, NOAA, or other space missions.
  • Expertise in developing operational strategies for all mission aspects, including spacecraft Mission Operations Center software in areas such as Real-Time Health and Safety Monitoring, Commanding, Telemetry Processing, Mission Planning (including Timeline and Scheduling Management), and Telemetry Trending.
  • Familiarity with GSFC software, including Advanced Spacecraft Integration & System Test Software (ASIST), Mission Planning System (MPS), Space Network Access System (SNAS), Satellite Tool Kit (STK) scheduler, Integrated Telemetry Analysis Control and Simulation (iTACS), Freeflyer, and Integrated Trending and Plotting System.
  • Experience in supporting mission reviews, including Operations Readiness Review (ORR), Flight Operations Review (FOR), Mission Operations Review (MOR), Ground Element (GE), and Mission Critical Design Reviews (CDRs).
  • Experience in developing training and certification programs for the Flight Operations Team and implementing mission configuration management.

Qualifications: A Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 10 years of progressively complex spacecraft mission development experience, including support of spacecraft flight systems. Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor's Degree and 14+ years of related experience will also be considered.
