Logistics and Inventory Management Specialist Job Overview

The logistics and inventory management specialist is responsible for overseeing the flow of products through the supply chain by managing order fulfillment, coordinating material deliveries, and ensuring the accurate receipt of incoming goods.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving Duties

· Efficiently unload and unpack incoming shipments, ensuring materials are stored in designated locations and accurately recorded in the company's ERP system.

· Maintain organization of project materials within the warehouse.

· Verify the accuracy of incoming shipments by comparing identifying information and performing counts, weights, or measurements against shipping documents.

· Inspect incoming packages, reject any damaged items, document shortages, and communicate with suppliers to resolve discrepancies.

· Deliver received materials to the appropriate departments or personnel.

· Document reasons for returned goods and liaise with vendors for return authorizations, processing items for return.

· Operate forklifts or hand trucks to transport shipments from the receiving area to storage or work zones.

Shipping Duties

· Maintain records of incoming shipments, prepare items for dispatch, and coordinate transportation with freight carriers.

· Review shipping orders to determine the necessary quantities and types of transportation.

· Communicate with carrier representatives to arrange pickups and provide loading instructions.

· Construct or select appropriate containers for shipping items.

· Inspect outgoing shipments to ensure compliance with specifications.

· Keep an inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

· Utilize lift trucks or hand trucks to move shipments from the shipping area.

· Perform clerical tasks such as preparing bills, typing correspondence, and maintaining organized files.

· Handle international shipping, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and creating necessary documentation.

Inventory Management

· Manage inventory levels by identifying, labeling, and storing materials; accurately recording inventory locations.

· Conduct weekly cycle counts and assist with annual physical inventory audits.

· Retrieve stock for internal project requirements.

· Transfer inventory data within the Solomon/SAP system.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

● Valid driver's license is required.

● High School diploma or equivalent is necessary.

● Experience with SAP Business One is preferred.
