The COMET contract oversees the comprehensive management and execution of ground systems capabilities, processing of flight hardware, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These responsibilities support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, as well as the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

·Preparation Support - Allocate and provision resources for the Firing Room, both hardware and software, utilizing standardized configurations. This includes software installations, hardline connections, system initialization, and readiness assessments.

·Real-Time Operational Support - Engage in proactive measures to ensure seamless support, provide necessary information, and avert disruptions and outages. This involves system monitoring, data documentation, system administration tasks, and real-time coordination of both scheduled and unscheduled activities.

·Issue Management and Troubleshooting - Identification and documentation of hardware and software challenges.

·Additional Operational Support Functions - Serve as the primary communication link to the Test Team, oversee Environmental Monitoring, and manage Disaster Preparedness and Recovery.

·Develop and uphold operational protocols.

·Monitor and analyze systems, including maintaining logs, file systems, account permissions, and troubleshooting issues.

·SMC Administration - Configure hardware layouts, provision, and set up non-xxid platforms.

·Facilitate technical meetings.

·Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or three (3) years of relevant experience in an IT specialization.

Job Requirements

·A solid foundation in Linux is essential.

·Ability to adhere to complex procedures and maintain attention to detail.

·If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.

Physical Requirements

·May need to ascend stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.

·Required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other necessary personal protective equipment.

·Position may involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

·Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, extensive stair use, and access to remote structures.

·Position is situated in a hazardous testing environment; must be capable of quickly evacuating buildings in emergencies.

Work Environment

·May be required to work both indoors and outdoors throughout the testing complex.

·Position may necessitate daily travel to various locations on-site.

·Walking on uneven surfaces, including paved areas, gravel, and sand, may be necessary to reach different locations on the facility.

·Climbing ladders and platforms may be required.

·All tasks must be performed safely in accordance with NASA and company safety protocols.

Equipment and Machines

·Computers and printers utilized for generating reports and schedules.

·A variety of equipment used in testing processes.

Attendance

·Full-time work hours.

·Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, based on task demands.

·Dependability and punctuality are essential.

·Shift work may be necessary.

Other Essential Functions

·Must effectively communicate ideas both in writing and verbally.

·Must be willing to travel to fulfill position requirements, which may include airline travel to customer locations. In some cases, accommodations can be arranged for personal vehicles, if necessary.

·Grooming and attire must be suitable for the position and must not pose safety risks to oneself or others.

·Must adhere to all "drug-free workplace" policies as mandated by federal contracting directives, which require drug testing for employees in sensitive roles.
