Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the business office department, leading and coordinating all aspects of the office, and ensuring the smooth operation of our financial systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management
    • Manage the business office department, including supervision of billing, collecting, resident trust accounting, and accounts payable functions.
    • Responsible for the supervision, hiring, and training of business office staff.
    • Ensure the business office functions are adequately staffed to minimize gaps in coverage.
  • Resident Trust Accounting
    • Responsible for all aspects of the resident trust accounting system, including security of patient funds.
    • Oversee the patient billing system to ensure accuracy of patient account billing information.
  • Accounts Receivable
    • Responsible for all patient-related accounts receivable balances, including Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, private, and other payers.
    • Ensure accurate balances, timely billing, and collections.
  • Front-End Collections
    • Responsible for front-end collections of A/R balances due from residents while in-house.
    • Meet with residents and responsible parties upon admission and routinely thereafter to follow up on collections.
  • Back-End Collections
    • Responsible for back-end collections of A/R balances due from residents after discharge.
  • Medicaid Pending Applications
    • Manage the Medicaid pending application and conversion process to ensure timely resolution.
  • Month-End Closing
    • Responsible for timely processing of charges, adjustments, refunds, payment posting, and write-offs.
    • Ensure patient bills and collection letters are processed accurately and timely.
  • Accounts Payable
    • Ensure accounts payable invoices are processed accurately and timely.
  • Process Improvement
    • Provide innovative, responsible healthcare with the creation and implementation of new ideas and concepts that continually improve systems and processes.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of one year of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility business office setting with specific billing/collecting and patient trust accounting experience.
    • Prior supervisor experience in a business office setting preferred.
  • Skills
    • Point Click Care (PCC) billing system experience preferred.
    • National Data Care Resident Funds Management System (RFMS) experience preferred.
