Role Summary: The Auto and Casualty Claims Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Claims Department, reporting directly to the Claims Manager. This position is essential to the Claims Leadership Team, overseeing the analysis and management of claim files within the designated unit. Responsibilities include assigning claims, conducting coverage assessments, ensuring adherence to action plans, maintaining reserve accuracy, and facilitating effective negotiations and litigation oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a team of Auto and Casualty Claims Adjusters.
- Evaluate performance and ensure compliance with claims procedures and regulations.
- Identify training requirements and deliver training sessions as necessary.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to team members.
- Ensure accountability for claim outcomes, including reserve adequacy, loss costs, and claim service delivery.
- Develop and implement review processes to meet technical standards and identify improvement opportunities.
- Authorize claim action plans following best practices.
- Maintain regular communication with all parties involved in the claims process.
- Execute claims activities to guarantee high-quality service delivery.
- Manage litigation claims, select and assess defense counsel, and identify resolution opportunities.
- Prepare weekly/monthly performance reports for the Claims Manager.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for team members, incorporating feedback from the Claims Manager.
- Approve time-off requests and ensure adequate coverage for business needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, JD, or relevant Insurance Designation with two to four years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Proficient in database, internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow effectively.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Adaptability and enthusiasm in a dynamic work environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant legal principles.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
