Assistant Professor of Latinx Historical Studies

Position Overview: The Department of History is in search of a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Latina/o/x/e History. Candidates must possess a terminal degree in History, with a focus on Latinx studies and/or Latin American studies.

Areas of Expertise: Sub-specialties may encompass, but are not limited to: Afro-Latin Studies, Ethnic Studies, Women's Studies, Hemispheric Studies, Borderlands, Mexican Studies, (Im)migrations, Diasporic Communities, Public History, Race and Ethnicity, and Environmental History.

Candidate Profile: The ideal applicant will demonstrate a robust record of research accomplishments, a dedication to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and a commitment to engaging with diverse populations.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Maintain an active research agenda.
  • Teach introductory survey courses, undergraduate certificate courses, upper division courses, and graduate courses in their area of expertise.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.

This role includes a teaching load of 3/3, with potential opportunities to reduce course responsibilities based on research and service commitments.

The successful candidate will have the chance to engage in various initiatives both within the academic community and the broader community.
