OVERVIEW:
Engage in a variety of responsibilities to design and implement therapeutic recreation programs.

Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator

Supervisory Responsibilities:
None

Work Schedule:
Per Diem - Music Therapy Recreation Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate engaging group activities and individualized sessions aimed at improving sensory, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant assessments, progress documentation, attendance logs, and discharge summaries in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Input data for care plans and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Assist in transporting participants to and from activity locations and prepare the environment for activities.
  • Oversee the inventory of materials and supplies, alerting the Coordinator to any shortages.
  • Operate company vehicles for outings as needed; actively participate in various staff meetings and maintain consistent attendance.
  • The Music Therapy Recreation Specialist will demonstrate leadership skills, mentor participants, and actively engage them in recreational activities. This role includes mentoring Music Therapy interns.
  • Exhibit the ability to facilitate group dynamics and address the interpersonal needs of participants.
  • Assess and document the needs and progress of participants effectively.
  • Participate in community outings, ensuring the safety of all participants.
  • Maintain the necessary credentials to provide Music Therapy services to participants.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy

Experience:
No prior experience required

Licensure:
Must possess a valid driver’s license

Skills and Competencies:

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines; Proficient in reading and effective communication; Familiarity with various software applications to fulfill job responsibilities.
