XL Catlin is seeking a skilled professional to join the Central Zone underwriting division. Our organization specializes in tailored risk management solutions for significant enterprises and institutions in the U.S. Underwriters possess extensive knowledge and the authority to make prompt decisions. Your primary objective will be to foster strong relationships both internally and externally, serving as the essential link between our brokers, clients, and the organization. Continuous improvement of our operational and underwriting methodologies is expected from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate, underwrite, oversee, and service a lucrative portfolio of new and renewal business in accordance with XL Catlin underwriting standards.
  • Perform comprehensive risk assessments and analyses. Establish terms & conditions and suitable pricing based on granted authority and XL Catlin underwriting policies.
  • Skillfully negotiate and finalize policy terms that are consistent with XL Catlin directives.
  • Develop and maintain vital broker relationships in the region to ensure a consistent flow of business within our underwriting appetite.
  • Establish effective business relationships with accounts, providing risk management support including initial service commitments and ongoing consultation. Complete all necessary steps for account setup, documentation, and management. Collaborate with internal service teams to cultivate long-term relationships between clients/brokers and XL Catlin, managing expectations of all involved parties.
  • Engage in cross-marketing with other XL Catlin lines; meet with brokers and insured parties as necessary.
  • Formulate and implement underwriting strategies for both renewals and targeted accounts within your portfolio, including awareness of current product penetration, cross-marketing efforts, and specific plans to enhance company market share.

You will report directly to the Head of Central Primary Casualty.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Moderate to extensive experience in underwriting large risk management accounts with a focus on high deductibles, self-insured retentions, captives, and claims management.
  • Familiarity with workers' compensation, general liability, and automobile insurance lines.
  • Ability to cultivate and sustain relationships with clients and producers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, complemented by robust sales and marketing skills.

Compensation

The U.S. salary range for this role is USD $95,000 – 186,500. Actual compensation will be determined based on the individual's skills, experience, and location. We aim for market alignment and internal equity with our colleagues' compensation.
