XL Catlin is excited to present an opportunity within our Central Zone underwriting division. Our organization specializes in tailored risk management solutions for significant enterprises and institutions across the U.S. Our underwriters possess extensive expertise and the authority necessary for prompt decision-making. Your primary responsibility will be to cultivate strong relationships both internally and externally, serving as the essential link between our brokers, clients, and the organization. Continuous improvement of our underwriting practices will be a key expectation.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite, manage, and service a profitable portfolio of new and renewal business in accordance with XL Catlin's underwriting standards.
- Perform comprehensive risk assessments and analyses. Establish terms, conditions, and pricing that align with granted authority and XL Catlin's underwriting policies.
- Negotiate effectively to secure policy terms that are consistent with XL Catlin's objectives.
- Develop and maintain essential broker relationships in the region to ensure a consistent flow of business within our underwriting appetite.
- Foster strong business relationships with accounts, offering risk management support including the initial setup of service commitments and ongoing consultation. Ensure all necessary steps for account setup, documentation, and management are completed. Collaborate with internal service teams to build lasting relationships between clients/brokers and XL Catlin, managing the expectations of all stakeholders.
- Engage in cross-marketing with other XL Catlin lines; meet with brokers and insured parties as necessary.
- Formulate and oversee underwriting strategies for both renewals and targeted accounts within your portfolio, including awareness of current product penetration, cross-marketing opportunities, and specific plans to enhance company market share.
You will report directly to the Head of Central Primary Casualty.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Experience in underwriting large risk management accounts with a focus on high deductibles, self-insured retentions, captives, and claims management.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation, general liability, and automobile insurance lines.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with clients and producers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities along with effective sales and marketing skills.
- Exceptional organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to envision innovative solutions and pathways to achieve them.
- Mental Agility: Creative thinker, capable of re-evaluating ideas and navigating complex situations.
