XL CATLIN is seeking a dedicated professional to enhance our Central Zone underwriting team. We specialize in tailored risk management solutions for significant enterprises and institutions in the U.S. Our underwriters possess extensive expertise and the authority to execute decisions swiftly. Your role will involve fostering strong relationships both internally and externally, serving as the vital link between our brokers, clients, and the organization. Continuous improvement of our operational and underwriting methodologies is expected from you.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite, manage, and maintain a profitable portfolio of new and renewal business in accordance with XL CATLIN underwriting standards.
- Perform comprehensive risk assessments and analyses. Establish terms, conditions, and pricing aligned with granted authority and XL CATLIN underwriting protocols.
- Negotiate effectively to secure policy terms that comply with XL CATLIN directives.
- Develop and nurture essential broker relationships in the region to ensure a consistent flow of business within our underwriting scope.
- Establish strong business connections with accounts, providing risk management guidance, including initial service commitments and ongoing support. Complete all necessary steps for account setup, documentation, and management. Collaborate with internal service teams to cultivate long-term relationships between clients/brokers and XL CATLIN, managing expectations effectively.
- Engage in cross-marketing with other XL CATLIN divisions; meet with brokers and insured parties as necessary.
- Formulate and implement underwriting strategies for renewals and target accounts within your portfolio, including insights into current product penetration and specific plans to enhance company market share.
You will report directly to the Head of Central Primary Casualty.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Experience in underwriting large risk management accounts with a focus on high deductibles, self-insured retentions, captives, and claims management.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation, general liability, and automobile insurance lines.
- Ability to cultivate and sustain relationships with clients and producers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities along with effective sales and marketing skills.
- Exceptional organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to envision innovative solutions and pathways to achieve them.

Compensation
The U.S. pay range for this position is USD $95,000 – 186,500. Actual compensation will be determined based on the individual's skills, experience, and location, with a focus on market alignment and internal equity.
