Job Title: Mathematics Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mathematics Teacher to join our team at Maya Angelou Public Charter Schools See Forever Foundation. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of mathematics subject areas, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry, Probability & Statistics, and/or basic math skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement unit plans and assessments that align with Common Core standards and the school-wide curricular framework.
  • Design and implement age-appropriate, culturally responsive teaching practices related to mathematics courses.
  • Develop differentiated learning plans, materials, and handouts for diverse learners in a small classroom setting.
  • Manage administrative assignments effectively and with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings for all students.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or subject field (required).
  • Must have or be eligible for certification by OSSE in the appropriate content area (within one year of employment).
  • Experience working with incarcerated or opportunity youth (preferred).
  • Familiarity with research-based instructional strategies.

Work Environment:

The Mathematics Teacher will work in an adult correctional facility, supporting students with special learning or emotional needs. The worksite and tour of duty for this position are located in the DC Jail.
