Position Summary: The Secondary Education Instructor is a full-time, salaried role reporting to the Academic Manager. This position involves delivering instruction in a classroom setting, focusing on mathematics and reading. The instructor will play a crucial role in preparing students for future career opportunities by exemplifying and mentoring the eight Career Success Standards, which include workplace relations and ethics, information management, communication skills, multicultural awareness, personal growth and development, career and personal planning, interpersonal skills, and independent living.

  • Build strong rapport with students to facilitate a supportive learning environment.
  • Utilize available curriculum resources effectively.
  • Prepare the classroom adequately for daily activities.
  • Manage student records and attendance accurately.
  • Ensure the security and maintenance of classroom equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the classroom.
  • Prepare necessary reports, including student evaluations and requisitions.
  • Assist in inventory management as required.
  • Participate in mandatory staff training sessions.
  • Adhere to Eckerd Connects' Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Model and communicate appropriate employability skills and personal responsibility.
  • Ensure a safe and respectful environment free from harassment and intimidation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be certified to teach in the state where the center is located (may be waived if certified teachers are unavailable, but certification pursuit is required).
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the subject area and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Proven ability to motivate and inspire students while effectively engaging with diverse populations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Capability to operate household appliances and drive an automobile.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and maintain positive working relationships across all departments.
