About the Role

The Port of Seattle is seeking a visionary leader to drive economic development activities and maximize opportunities for the Port. As the Managing Director of Economic Growth, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote economic growth, expand business opportunities, and enhance the Port's competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Economic Development Strategies: Create and execute plans to drive economic growth, attract businesses, and promote trade and commerce.
  • Lead Real Estate Development Efforts: Oversee the development of Port properties, identify opportunities for acquisition and development, and lead partnerships with operating divisions and external organizations.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships: Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, businesses, and community organizations, to advance economic development goals.
  • Drive Business Growth: Identify and pursue opportunities to expand business activity, increase revenue, and enhance the Port's competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with Port staff, external partners, and community groups to ensure alignment and effective implementation of economic development strategies.
Requirements
  • 10+ Years of Economic Development Experience: Proven track record of leading economic development initiatives, developing and implementing strategies, and driving business growth.
  • Senior Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to manage teams, lead cross-functional initiatives, and make strategic decisions.
  • Strong Business Acumen: Understanding of business operations, market trends, and economic development principles.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build relationships, communicate effectively, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
