Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef to join our team at Stephens. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for creating and implementing menus that showcase the highest quality of food and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create fresh and healthy menus using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.
  • Procure food supplies and kitchen equipment, including inventory management and quality control.
  • Consult with event planners to determine menu options, serving arrangements, and seating.
  • Tailor menus to meet specific dietary needs and preferences.
  • Presentation is an important component of the meal and should be of fine-dining quality.
  • Interview, select, and train kitchen personnel.
  • Maintain relationships with local and regional food purveyors.
  • Ensure the highest food quality and operating procedures.
  • Analyze the workplace and implement policies to assure health, hygiene, sanitation, safety, and food storage standards.
  • Inventory management - shop, order, and acquire food, supplies, and equipment for the kitchen.
  • Plan, schedule, and adjust hours of work and responsibilities among employees.
  • Monitor and approve time and attendance for kitchen employees.

Requirements

  • Culinary degree desired.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a chef, preferably in a similar position.
  • Food ServSafe certification.
  • Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and ability to deliver high standards.
  • Diverse experience with various food styles.
  • Passion for producing consistently high-quality food and service.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Basic accounting skills and intermediate computer skills for communication and inventory management.
  • Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment.
  • Self-starter with time management, prioritization, and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and travel as required.
