Role Overview: Pharmacy Technician (Sterile Compounding - Ambulatory Oncology Infusion Suite)
This position supports all Concierge Service and Specialty Pharmacy operations, encompassing prescription intake, benefits verification, prescription dispensing, and delivery to patients in clinical settings as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patient insurance requirements for pre-certification and communicate necessary information to insurance providers to secure authorization for specialty pharmacy and discharge concierge patients.
  • Collaborate closely with Clinical Pharmacists, healthcare providers, and specialty clinic staff to ensure seamless access to medications for discharged or specialty patients.
  • Coordinate patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team, particularly with infectious disease (ID) specialists, to manage patients transitioning to home care on intravenous antibiotics.
  • Maintain effective communication with ID pharmacists, physicians, and external care facilities to ensure comprehensive patient management.
  • Provide follow-up communication to patients and families regarding pharmaceutical needs.
  • Facilitate coordination of ID clinic appointments and ensure integrated care between the ID clinic and external healthcare facilities.
  • Ensure appropriate laboratory tests are conducted at required intervals and results are communicated to the ID clinic.
  • Work in conjunction with ID pharmacists and physicians to manage the discontinuation of IV antimicrobials and relay plans to external facilities.

Key Collaborators:
Clinical Pharmacists, Healthcare Providers, Medical Assistants, ID Pharmacists, ID Physicians, and Clinical Support Staff.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience as a certified pharmacy technician in a healthcare setting is essential, ideally within a community or hospital-based retail environment. Experience in pre-certification processes in retail settings is advantageous. A background in financial coordination is also considered valuable. Pharmacy Technician certification is mandatory.
