Position: Stationary Engineer II (NARA II) – Tour Engineer
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Stationary Engineer II to oversee inspections and ensure the safe functioning of chilled water and steam systems. This role serves as a key contact for facility operations during non-standard hours, as EMCOR is committed to 24/7 operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the NARA II Assistant Chief Operating Engineer, while also taking direction from senior engineers and operations management.
- Conduct regular facility tours, performing inspections and checks as per established protocols.
- Execute minor repairs and adjustments to mechanical and electrical systems related to heating and air conditioning.
- Perform thorough inspections of equipment to ensure optimal operation of HVAC systems.
- Address occupant concerns regarding temperature and humidity during service calls, making necessary adjustments.
- Ensure efficient operation of equipment during assigned tours, including routine maintenance tasks.
- Monitor auxiliary systems to maintain balanced equipment loads and comfortable indoor conditions.
- Conduct repairs on ventilation, refrigeration, and heating systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Maintain central plant equipment, including chillers and boilers, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Read and interpret operational gauges and meters, documenting findings accurately.
- Manage boiler water quality and chemical levels, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Operate stationary engines and auxiliary equipment to provide necessary heating and cooling.
- Isolate equipment for safe inspections and repairs, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Document maintenance activities and coordinate with other trades for effective repairs.
- Perform asset inspections and recommend improvements based on industry standards.
- Be available for on-site responses to critical operations as required.
- Adhere to safety procedures and contribute to operational efficiency improvements.
Qualifications:
- Required: Valid Maryland 3rd Class Steam Engineer License; a valid DC 3rd Class may be considered.
- Preferred: Valid Maryland 1st Class Steam Engineer License.
- Required: CFC Universal License.
- Knowledge of relevant fire regulations and compliance agencies.
- Experience in a similar operational environment.
- Proficiency in HVAC systems and preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to interpret technical documents such as blueprints and schematics.
- Practical knowledge of Chiller/Boiler Plant Operations and Building Automated Controls.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and push up to 100 lbs.
- Extended periods of standing and walking.
- Manual dexterity and mobility for equipment handling.
- Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
