About the Role
The Medical Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the clinical direction and operations of Astrana Health's care delivery entities. This physician leader will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to optimize quality of care, providing guidance to staffed providers, and creating clinical policies that ensure compliance and standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight to care delivery entities, including AMG, Southern California Heart Centers, Clinica Humanitaria, and Allied Pacific Urgent Care.
- Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure high standards of care and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to align clinical operations with organizational goals and objectives.
- Lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives aimed at improving clinical quality, patient outcomes, and cost-efficiency.
- Lead initiatives related to Risk Adjustment, HEDIS, CGHAPS, STAR, Medicare, and other relevant metrics.
- Collaborate with analytics teams to track and report cost of care and quality outcomes and develop action plans to address variances.
- Foster strong collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership, clinical staff, and operations teams.
- Ensure all clinical operations comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Requirements:
- MD or DO degree with active medical license in good standing.
- Board certification in a relevant medical specialty, internal medicine preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience, with at least 5 years in a clinical operations or managed care leadership role.
- Strong understanding of managed care principles, healthcare delivery systems, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing clinical policies and quality improvement programs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze complex clinical data and translate findings into actionable strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA, MHA, or MPH degree.
- Experience with value-based care staff models.
- Familiarity with healthcare technology and data analytics tools.
