Lead Customs Compliance Specialist

As a Senior Customs Compliance Analyst, you will be responsible for managing the classification and U.S. Customs clearance of significant merchandise, overseeing an annual duty of millions. Your role will involve collaborating with various departments to ensure adherence to CBP regulations and compliance with other governmental entities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the identification of HTS codes and assess additional duties or tariffs.
2. Conduct regular audits and resolve any CBP holds.
3. Maintain accuracy in importing requirements and ensure compliance with 19 CFR.
4. Identify opportunities for duty savings and report on tariff changes.
5. Develop cross-functional systems to enhance operational efficiency.
Daily Activities:
- Ensure precision in classifications, duty rates, and clearance documentation while upholding compliance with CBP and PGA requirements.
- Provide training for new analysts and update necessary documentation and training materials.
- Collaborate with management to refine processes and maintain compliance in the Trade Compliance Program through risk-based audits.
Reporting Duties:
- Generate reports on FTAs, AD/CVD cases, and significant tariff changes, identifying potential risks or savings opportunities.
- Work closely with Customs Brokers and relevant teams to stay updated on classification and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or three years of relevant experience in Customs Trade Compliance.
- Preferred certifications include US Customs Broker License and/or CCS (Certified Customs Specialist).
- Strong understanding of international operations and customs compliance.
- Ability to interpret the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule and binding rulings effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Teams.
