Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the operating room for incoming patients.
  • Assess and document the surgical status of patients.
  • Assist anesthesia staff in monitoring patient intake and output, ensuring the availability of blood products, and documenting blood administration accurately.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in managing challenging situations while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients receiving sedation, intervening as necessary.
  • Utilize safety positioning devices effectively, providing continuous observation and documentation as per hospital guidelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of operating room equipment and demonstrate the ability to perform new procedures and skills.
  • Conduct initial vital signs assessments and gather admission history, including patient and family introductions.
  • Document a thorough systems assessment at the start of each procedure.
  • Respond to diagnostic data and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Evaluate patient education needs upon admission, considering age and developmental factors.
  • Develop a care plan within eight hours of admission, prioritizing patient needs based on assigned duties.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care and instructions for each surgical patient during the shift.
  • Perform dressing changes using aseptic techniques.
  • Collect and label specimens as ordered by the physician.
  • Conduct bedside glucose monitoring and ostomy care, reinforcing patient education.
  • Insert urinary catheters using aseptic techniques as required.
  • Administer oxygen therapy in accordance with physician orders.
  • Facilitate patient transfers efficiently, ensuring accurate documentation of transfer summaries.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Current Florida RN License
  • BLS Certification required
  • CNOR Certification preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience in scrubbing and circulating across various surgical specialties; CNOR certification is highly advantageous.
