Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at Akron Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive Child Life services to patients and families, maximizing their physical and emotional health, and minimizing stress and trauma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement comprehensive Child Life services to meet the needs of patients and families.
  • Provide preparation and adaptive coping strategies for patients and families for medical procedures and other healthcare experiences.
  • Offer education and emotional support to patients and families, advocating for their needs to multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Supervise and train students and volunteers to ensure high-quality care.
  • Demonstrate expertise in child development and the impact of hospitalization on patients and families.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life specialization, or related field.
  • Certified Child Life Specialist within one year of employment.
  • Current Health Care Provider BLS training.
  • Eligible candidates must have completed a 600-hour clinical Child Life internship under the supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
