Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and service-minded Damage Prevention Specialist to join our team at Heath Consultants Incorporated. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for detecting and properly marking underground utilities, ensuring the safety of our clients and the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Locate Underground Utilities: Use electronic detection equipment and tools to locate and mark underground utilities such as gas lines, electrical cables, and communication lines.
  • Operate Detection Equipment: Operate various electronic detection equipment and tools to locate and mark underground utilities.
  • Indicate Utility Locations: Indicate utility locations using paint and flags.
  • Conduct Site Inspections: Conduct site inspections and assessments to identify potential hazards or issues in order to maintain safety.
  • Utilize Mapping Tools: Utilize provided mapping tools, location information, and specialized equipment to locate underground utilities effectively.
  • Prioritize Work: Prioritize work by reviewing all locate requests to determine routing.
  • Drive to Sites: Drive to sites in response to routine ticket requests and emergencies.
  • Relocate as Needed: Relocate as needed to address urgent situations promptly.
  • Read and Understand Utility-Provided Maps: Read and understand utility-provided maps/prints to identify underground utilities effectively.
Requirements
  • Reliability and Punctuality: Must be reliable and punctual for scheduled assignments.
  • Lifting Ability: Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
  • Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Background and Drug Screening: Pass pre-employment background and drug screening (random drug testing throughout employment).
  • High School Diploma or GED: Have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to Work Overtime: Able to work overtime as needed, as well as some holidays and occasionally on-call rotations.
  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to learn to utilize utility maps, records, and other resources to locate underground utility lines accurately.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to walk, bend, kneel, and stand outdoors for long periods of time through all kinds of terrain, including urban, suburban, and rural locations, and working under adverse conditions.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, customers, and clients.
