Position Overview

TRISTAR is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support our government client in the Radar Technologies Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive mechanical and electrical engineering assistance to ensure the accuracy of procedural documentation.
  • Support the AN/SPS-67 and AN/SPS-73 radar systems and their associated components.
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Developing procedures with initial guidance and ongoing review from government subject matter experts (SMEs).
    • Incorporating feedback from government SMEs into the engineering processes.
    • Evaluating performance specifications to determine necessary test parameters for radar subsystem capabilities.
    • Designing multifunctional test stations for energizing and testing radar subcomponent performance.
    • Analyzing test results to ensure compliance with performance standards.
    • Updating performance requirements to adapt to evolving operational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in the mechanical design of shipboard radar systems.
  • Expertise in corrosion prevention in marine environments, DC and AC motor design, gear assemblies, and thermal modeling.
  • Proficient in 3D modeling for assessing mechanical stresses, including vibration, loading, and thermal effects.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • An Active Secret Clearance is required or the ability to obtain and maintain a government-issued security clearance of secret or higher, with interim clearance potentially needed.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
