Location: Hybrid work environment in Houston

I. Position Summary
This role requires an experienced engineer who possesses a high level of expertise and may engage in various engineering disciplines across multiple projects. The individual may function as an independent contributor or lead teams for designated projects. Responsibilities include forming a suitably sized and structured engineering support team, conducting analyses to provide recommendations for operational projects, and establishing engineering standards and procedures related to projects. The primary focus will be on supporting Waste Management Renewable Energy (WMRE), with occasional assistance on other company initiatives.

II. Key Responsibilities
To excel in this position, the individual must effectively perform each essential duty. Additional minor tasks may be assigned as needed.
  • Act as the lead Owner's Engineer for all WMRE facilities, overseeing design reviews for all projects in development or construction.
  • Organize engineering programs and projects in accordance with departmental and special project specifications.
  • Supervise assigned project engineering personnel, including recommendations for hiring, performance evaluations, work assignments, and setting departmental objectives.
  • When designated as project lead, allocate project team members to specific phases or aspects of the project, such as technical planning and testing.
  • Coordinate activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and testing challenges.
  • Develop and test components, equipment, and systems utilizing principles and techniques from electrical, mechanical, chemical, and/or industrial engineering.
  • Function as an active team member within the assigned group and/or project team.
  • Provide technical guidance to project team members.
  • Review and assess work to ensure quality and timeliness, maintaining quality control in line with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that departmental project objectives are achieved within established guidelines and requirements.

IV. Qualifications
The qualifications listed below are representative of the necessary skills to perform this role.

A. Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or a related field is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required, with 10 years preferred.
Preferred experience includes:

Experience with technologies related to landfill-derived renewable natural gas processing equipment (compression equipment, membrane technology, PSA/TSA technology) to support CO2 removal, nitrogen rejection, oxygen scavenging, and methane optimization.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
No specific certifications required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Required
Willingness to travel up to 25%.
