Job Summary

The Governor's Office of Planning and Research is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director for Community Investment and Portfolio Management to join our team. As a key member of our Senior Leadership team, you will be responsible for managing our community development and infrastructure investment portfolio, which includes approximately $1 billion in program grants annually.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the portfolio of community development and infrastructure investment programs, including the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Program, the Transformative Climate Communities Program, and the Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve program goals and objectives, including increasing funding and resources for community development and infrastructure investment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including state agencies, local governments, and community organizations, to advance program goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff on joint efforts, including the Housing and Community Development's Regional Early Action Plan program.
  • Represent the Governor's Office of Planning and Research at public events, expert panels, and media interviews, and testify before the State Legislature.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as public policy, urban planning, or business administration.
  • At least 5 years of experience in community development and infrastructure investment, including program management and leadership roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible to participate in our hybrid telework schedule. Occasional/overnight travel up to 10% may be required. All employees must reside in California upon appointment.
